PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has welcomed the establishment
of the military courts. He said that 8 of 14 points presented by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
have been included in the 20-point national action plan against terrorism. He said
that though the plan mentions stopping the funding of terrorists, yet it is silent
on provision of funds to the religious seminaries. He said that reforms in system
of religious education including revision of syllabi are integral in addition registration
of seminaries, adding that otherwise the problem will not be resolved. He said that
it is equally important to hold those accountable who give statements in favour
of terrorists. He said that this important matter has been overlooked in the final
plan. He warned that if expediency is still employed in such dire circumstances,
the blood will continue to be shed and we will only be left expressing our dismay
and grief.
Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that it would have been better if the Prime Minister would have held a joint press conference along with leaders of parliamentary parties at the time of announcing national action plan against terrorism. He said that it has been speculated that some of the parties attending APC did not agree to 20-point plan cent per cent, adding that this impression should be dispelled. He said that national unity is at the heart of mission to combat and defeat terrorism. He said that fruits of national action plan will only be visible when it is implemented in letter and spirit. He said that PAT would keep a vigilant eye so far as its implementation is concerned.
