PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that police officers presenting themselves before the government’s JIT are giving already scripted and well-rehearsed statements. He said that no one is ready to take the responsibility of ordering live and direct firing as a result of pelting of stones. He said that we are of the considered view that those ordering firing on PAT and MQI workers were not present at the site of police brutality. Rather, they were then sitting in the Chief Minister’s House and CM Secretariat. He said that directions of firing came from these top houses of the government. He said that the rulers are clearly at a fault to think that they would be able to get an investigation of their liking from their favourite JIT and thus absolve themselves of their role in killing of 14 people.
