G.M. Malik, spokesman of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, has said that there was a need of changing the current outdated electoral system if we wanted to hand over a better Pakistan to our succeeding generations. He said that this system was a hurdle in the way of the establishment of true democracy and change in the country. ‘The present system gives birth to a Parliament which protects the interests of the elite in total disregard to the collective interests of the people, he added.
G.M. Malik expressed these views while talking to a PAT delegation from Lahore which called on him in central secretariat. The delegation was led by PAT Lahore President Afzal Gujjarr. He said that the masses were fed up with the performance of the bigger parties and wanted a change. He, however, said that the change must be of enduring nature and in the larger interest of the people of Pakistan.
