Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, has said that the establishment of national government could steer the country out of its crises and the ritual of elections would further weaken the institutions and push the country into a blind alley. He said that the national economy has been propped up by the foreign loans and a team of competent and honest leadership was the utmost need to put the country back on rails.
PAT President expressed these views while talking to a five-member delegation of Executive Council of PAT Punjab which called on him here in Lahore today. Lehrasiab Gondal, MH Shaheen and others were also present on the occasion.
PAT President Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani said that recurring practice of hiking gas and POL prices, the worst energy crisis, near collapse of economy, a situation of clash among the institutions represented the failure of the government. In order to cure this disorder, a national government, he said, needed to be put in place from three to five years. The agenda of the national government should be to revive the ailing economy, bottle back genie of price hike of basic necessities and conduct across the board accountability.
He said that the electoral system should be changed if the real democracy were to be installed in the country. He urged the people to raise their voice for change in the system.
