President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi has said that Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s dream of changing the tone and tenor of politics will surely come true. He said that the way caretaker governments were put in place was sufficient to expose the reality of so-called democracy in the country. He said that the entire scheme served to unveil the hidden agendas and interests of the political parties. He said that it was democratic right of every political party to take part in elections or stay away from them and they were free in taking decisions on this count. He said that PAT considered the elections under the present exploitative system as the biggest joke and fraud with the people of Pakistan.
PAT President expressed these views while addressing the meeting of Executive Council of the party at its central secretariat. Khurram Nawaz Gundapur, Bashrat Jaspal, Ch Afzal Gujjar, Jawad Hamid, Sajid Mahmood Bhatti and others were present on the occasion.
Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that the purpose of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s struggle was to save Pakistan from balkanization and hand over a prosperous and peaceful country to the next generation. He said that traditional politics was in clash with PAT’s vision of change and it explained why PAT rejected elections being held under the incumbent and heavily flawed electoral system.
Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that PAT was a fervent supporter of democracy and was convinced that elections were the best means to bring about change but added in the same breath that those elections should be held in fair, just, free and transparent manner. He said that elections without electoral reforms were meaningless exercise meant to befool the nation. He said that PAT could not become part of the crime. He said that the party was launching mass contact drive to make people aware of the fraud being committed against them.
