LAHORE: PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri dubbed the upcoming elections and corruption ‘twin brothers’ and the Election Commission their ‘father’, saying in their presence the dream of real democracy would never be fulfilled in the country.
Speaking by phone from London on Monday to PAT leaders, he said if people wanted to get rid of the oppressive system, they would have to send ‘the entire family’ packing. He asked people to attend PAT’s sit-ins on the polling day, which would pave the way for a change of the corrupt system.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said nation would have to decide whether to save corrupt politics or the state founded by Quaid-e-Azam. He said the present electoral system was pushing people towards rebellion and revolution.
He said if loan defaulters, tax evaders and fake degree holders were elected, the responsibility would squarely lie on the shoulders of the Election Commission. He said that those claiming to bring about change would be left to fend for themselves.
