Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the forthcoming elections and corruption are ‘twin brothers’ and the Election Commission is their ‘father’.
In a statement, he said the dream of real democracy would never be fulfilled in the country in their presence. He said if the people wanted to get rid of the oppression wrought by the system, they would have to send ‘the entire family’ packing. Qadri asked the people to attend PAT’s public sit-ins on the polling day, which would pave the way for change of the corrupt system.
Qadri said the nation would have to decide whether to save the corrupt politics or the state founded by the Quaid-e-Azam. He said the present electoral system was pushing the people towards rebellion and revolution.
He said if the loan defaulters, tax evaders and fake degree holders were elected, the responsibility would squarely lie on the shoulders of the ECP. He said that those claiming to bring about change would be left to fend for themselves.
