Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the leader of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), has said that there is a strong possibility that PAT and PTI may enter into an alliance on a shared agenda. He said that both parties and their respective leadership have unanimity of views on the challenges afflicting the country and believed that no improvement could come about without changing the corrupt and obsolete system. He said that PAT’s struggle for green revolution would be peaceful and democratic in its entirety. He further said that even if the authorities opened fire on the workers, people would remain peaceful and not take up arms in any manner, adding that people would achieve their objective of bringing about a revolution within the constitutional limits. He said that he would bring a dedicated team of professionals and technocrats after the revolution that would put the country back on the rails of progress and prosperity. He said that these professionals would not draw even a single penny from treasury by way of salary.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while speaking at ARY News weekly edition ‘Khara Sach’ anchored by Mubasshar Luqman on December 30, 2013.

Dr Qadri said that a leader’s life should be like an open book and people should have every right to know about his personal life and conduct. He said that neither he nor his sons or family got even a single penny or any financial benefit from Minhaj-ul-Quran International in any manner so much so that they paid for edibles from their pockets that they took during the meetings. He said that the entire royalty and proceeds from the sale of his books, DVDs and lectures went to the accounts of MQI and he did not charge even a single penny during last 33 years since inception of the movement.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that he never prescribed any talisman (Ta’aveez) nor did he write one because he was opposed to selling religion, adding that his preaching and all religious activities were for the sake of Allah Almighty. He said that when he traveled abroad, he did not stay in hotels. Rather he chose to live at the home of his workers. He said that he even did not hesitate to sleep at the floor.

In reply to a question regarding welfare activities of MQI, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Minhaj Welfare Foundation, a sister organization under the umbrella of MQI, was one of leading welfare organizations in the country that is dedicated to carrying out social welfare programme of MQI both inside Pakistan as well as abroad. He said that whenever any natural disaster occurred, be it massive earthquake of 2005 or unprecedented floods of 2010-11, MQI had been in the forefronts of rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas. He said that the welfare organization was running a number of projects in the education and health sectors in the country without any discrimination. He said that mass marriage ceremonies were the hallmark of MWF under which hundreds of daughters of the poor households had been married off in a respectable manner.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri invited all citizens of the country to visit the headquarters of MQI to see for themselves as to what MWF was doing for the suffering humanity. He said that they were free to investigate the financial matters as well.

He said that he never bothered about baseless accusations and would not respond in kind to the slander and character assassination. He said that he educated his workers to refrain from adopting any immoral behavior. He said that our objectives were too lofty to be distracted by false allegations. In reply to another question, Dr Qadri said that trial against former President Pervez Musharraf should begin from October 12, 1999 instead of Nov 3, 2007.
