Committed to fight for the poor till restoration of their rights:Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri addresses countrywide Conventions

  • Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri announces to return in July
  • PAT organizes Workers Conventions at 853 places in the country at its golden jubilee

On the occasion of 25th foundation day of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), countrywide Workers Conventions were held in 853 places throughout the country. These Workers Conventions were unique and exemplary in the sense that the masses and PAT workers attended these conventions in their large numbers despite absence of their leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.

The central Worker Convention was held at PAT central secretariat in Model Town Lahore. People belonging to all walks of life attended the Convention. The representatives of different political parties and civil society organizations declared their support for revolutionary agenda of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and decided to join PAT at the occasion. Conspicuous by their presence were noted journalists, opinion leaders, analysts and senior columnists in the Convention. The women, true to their tradition, attended the event in their large number side by side with men. This showed that the acceptance of Dr Qadri’s message of revolution among the womenfolk, who constitute about half of Pakistan’s total population, was success of PAT revolutionary agenda.

President of PAT Federal Council Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, PAT central President Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz and PAT Women Wing leader Ms. Ayesha Shabbir addressed the mammoth gathering at the occasion.

During the introductory part of his speech, PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri congratulated the people of Pakistan, PAT workers and leaders on the successful conduct of massive protest demonstrations in over 60 cities of the country on May 11. He also announced to return to Pakistan in July. This news electrified the PAT workers and their zeal and zest was worth watching at that occasion.

Directing the workers about next course of action for revolution, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it was binding on every worker to get into action mode from tomorrow onwards. He also announced the establishment of People’s Revolutionary Councils, adding that each Revolutionary Council would consist of ten members at union council level. He said that this group of ten people would be called comrades who would be supervised by an in-charge. He said that the head of ten People’s Revolutionary Councils would be a Nazim who would have 110 people under him. He further said that one President would oversee the work of ten Nazmeen to be headed by Amir over ten presidents. Amir would have ten thousand people under his watch and leadership.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri directed the workers to knock on every door. He asked them not to make themselves content with giving message only. Rather they should try to convince every household by making them understand the criticality of situation and need of revolution to set things back on track. He said that they should persuade them to join the caravan of revolution. He further asked the office holders of Revolutionary Councils to collect complete data of people under their watch.

Dr Qadri further said that the rulers would apply every trick in the book to save the corrupt system and go to the extent of showing rosy picture through bogus reforms. He said that the people needed to know that they had been fed on such false promises and meaningless rhetoric for last 65 years to no avail. He said that when we talked of giving interest-free loans after revolution, the government made an announcement of interest-free loans next day. He said that likewise we talked of free education; an advertisement of free education was published in papers on the following day.

He said that people should identify their friends and foes by fathoming the fact that the current system could not be protector of their rights. They should not expect even an iota of improvement or wellbeing from this system. He said that this system was killer of their hopes, aspirations and happiness, adding that it was because of this system that they remained trapped in shackles of poverty, misery, unemployment, pain, lawlessness and terrorism. He said that the rulers were product of this system. They were its biggest supporters, for they would never want the status quo to be disturbed in any manner. He further said that the rulers had disappointed people so much that the latter had lost their trust in every one due to poverty and ignorance and benefitting from people’s despondency and backwardness, the ruling elite had branded the anti-poor system as democracy.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri impressed upon the workers the need of enlisting the support of 10 million Namazis as early as possible. He said that when this target would be achieved and lacs of people would take to the streets in every city, none would dare confront people’s power, stop their buses and order a shut-down of petrol pumps. He said that all difficulties would be overcome.

Dr Qadri also announced to establish National Council of Democratic Reforms which would consist of technocrats, professionals, academicians and experts of their respective fields. He congratulated all workers and leaders of PAT on holding Workers Conventions at 853 places throughout the country on the occasion of the party’s silver jubilee.
