Shahbaz involved in Model Town tragedy: Dr. Qadri

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tahreek (PAT) Chief, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri on Sunday alleged that Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif was involved in the Model town carnage.

Tahir-ul-Qadri added that the proof was available in the form of telephone call-recordings which will be made public in due time.

Addressing a press conference at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri said that no one was accepting the responsibility of the Model Town tragedy, how could they accept the responsibility of the murders of democracy and the constitution.

Dr. Tahirul Qadri added that the rulers have let the accused police officers run away from the country. He said we followed the path of constitution and the law and submitted a petition for the registration of an FIR against the nominated persons.

Dr. Qadri said that for peace and to uphold the principle of no-violence, his party refrained from any step that could have destroyed the Jati Umra palace in Raiwind and would not have buried the coffins of martyrs until the end of the Punjab government.

The PAT Chief said that the constitution and rule of law was nonexistent in Pakistan. He inquired from western countries that if an incident similar to the Lahore tragedy occurred wouldn't the government of their country resign.
