LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday said he would call off his revolution call if any illegal weapon was found on the premises of his secretariat and with his workers.

Talking to media persons outside his residence, he invited all political parties and human rights organisations as well government representatives of good repute to Model Town to confirm his claim.

Qadri invited ministers of good repute, political and religious parties, including PPP, MQM, ANP and human rights organisations, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan to the PAT Secretariat to check the presence of weapons in the secretariat as well as with thousands of workers who have gathered there. “If they find any weaponry on our side, he will call off revolution march,” he asserted.

Qadri assured media persons that PAT’s revolution march on August 14 would be peaceful and non-violent. He said the PAT workers had not been trained for violence; instead, they practised Sufism. He said his party could never even think of disturbing peace and spreading lawlessness.

Dr Qadri reiterated his workers could not even think of violence and unrest. “Despite bearing teargas shelling, bullets, police torture and everything that happened in the Model Town incident, they did not fire even a single bullet,” he said. He condemned the police action for preventing food supplies to PAT supporters in Model Town. He regretted the police were registering false cases against his party workers. He claimed the government had arrested 25,000 PAT workers.

Dr Tahirul Qadri thanked MQM Chief Altaf Hussain for setting up a medical camp at PAT Secretariat for the participants of the long march and for providing food and other eatables. He said PAT and MQM were fighting for real democracy. He said those fighting for the rights of the masses have to face brutalities. But he was sure that the oppressed would win.

Later, in his address to PAT workers, Qadri advised them not to let PML-N’s Gullu Butts to sabotage and defame their peaceful revolution movement. He further advised them to keep an eye on the miscreants who could join them to instigate violence.

He urged his workers to remain determined to launch the revolution march on August 14. He said revolutionaries were destined to bear anguish, adding the workers’ sacrifices would bring the change.

He said a number of female PAT workers were missing. He asked the government to take his life but return the dead bodies of his workers. He said he would not eat food till provision of food to all of his workers.
