LAHORE: Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Dr. Tahirul Qadri begun protest march from Lahore to Islamabad with hundreds of his supporters, despite court orders, SAMAA reported Thursday.
Late on Wednesday the Lahore High Court barred Imran Khan and Qadri from marching on the capital "in an unconstitutional way". Both the opposition leaders are holding their protest over alleged rigging in last year's general elections.
Qadri, while speaking to media persons, revealed his party’s 10-point agenda aimed at bringing ‘green revolution’ in Pakistan.
“Our agenda will help release legal and constitutional rights of people confiscated by the rulers. This agenda will eliminate hunger, poverty, unemployment and ensures basic necessities of life including shelter, food, jobs, education and medical faculties at doorsteps,” said Qadri.
Meanwhile, PAT workers started their ‘revolution march’ from Model Town to Islamabad where authorities have sealed the city with containers.
The Model Town was also sealed with containers from all sides as authorities refused to give a clear route to the marchers.
Earlier today, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan also started his journey towards Islamabad from Lahore, pledging to ‘liberate Pakistan from Pharaohs’ through his party’s ‘Azadi March’. – SAMAA
