Those sitting in parliament are cowards, says Qadri

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Thursday said those sitting in parliament were cowards and it was better for them to wear bangles.

He lashed out at the incumbent rulers and termed them corrupt as their sons were also involved in corruption. He alleged that Hassan Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz used their politics to expand their businesses.

The PAT chief said that the rulers had to account for each worker killed in Model Town.He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif did not invest money in their businesses from their own pockets; they rather obtained loans from banks and never returned the same because of their position.

Talking about Hassan Nawaz, the PAT chief said he had a meeting with officials of eight big companies of the world in New York for Reko Diq and Hamza Shahbaz was prospering due to his ever-expanding business of poultry and meat.

He said the resources of Reko Diq were more than enough for the economy of Pakistan and if they could utilise these resources, the country could be on the list of developed countries.Tahirul Qadri said the Sharif family had control over all the businesses in Pakistan. “Rs11.5 billion loans of banks are outstanding from only 25 percent businesses of the Sharif family,” he said.

Dr Tahirul Qadri said that the government was using cheap tactics against them as his 25,000 workers were missing. He said that atrocities of the rulers had reached their peak and warned them not to try the patience of the people anymore.

“For 35 years, I have been living in a one kanal house, while those accusing me of money-laundering could not prove the charge despite being in power.” Qadri said the rulers knew their looting would come to an end once the revolution came in the country. He said that those supporting the PM were actually his partners in corruption and they would be held accountable.

He said that terrorists and burglars were ruling the state and the families of the martyrs of Model Town could not be provided with justice in their presence, so they would have to return to their homes.

The PAT chief slammed the government for suspending Inspector General Police (IGP), Islamabad, Aftab Cheema, for refusing to launch a crackdown on the PAT and PTI activists. He vowed not to step back in any case and alleged that the rulers had planned to launch an attack on his supporters.

Qadri said the government had besieged the protest camp and was not allowing anyone to come inside. “Until now we have not even thrown a stone at anyone,” he said and asked his workers to remain peaceful and not to lose hope.
