Weathering the storm: Stay steadfast, Qadri tells protesters

Challenges demand sacrifices and people should stand firm with unflinching resolve to achieve the goal of revolution, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri said on Friday.

As torrential rains lashed Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa he called out to the protestors all soaking wet, “I salute the resilience of my mothers and sisters.”

The courageous PAT women are braving inclement weather away from the comfort of home, Qadri said.

“We are blamed that we are using women and children as shield, but those levelling this charge on us are themselves responsible for the deaths of innocent PAT supporters,” he said.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has said that the sanctity of a Muslim’s life, property and honour is more than that of Kaaba. “I ask the parliamentarians, is that building (parliament house) more hallowed than Kaaba.”

When police attacked with brute force on unarmed PAT men, women and children they had nowhere to go except to break the fence of parliament house and move towards the ground to take shelter, Qadri reminded.

“Holy Prophet has said the life of a Muslim is more important than Kaaba and you are crying for the fence of parliament.”

Parliamentarians were representatives of the people but none has come to hear the issues of the people sitting here, Qadri said. The MPs come begging for votes and then disappear. They become VIPs. If the Parliament comprised the right kind of people, they would listen to the demands and woes of the protesters.
