PAT raises 13 questions over govt credibility

ISLAMABAD: Dr Tahirul Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Tuesday filed its written reply in the Supreme Court and raised over a dozen questions over government’s credibility, Samaa reported.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan and PAT chief Dr. Qadri have set up camp cities in front of Parliament to force the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whom they accuse of rigging last year's general election.

Today, the PAT filed its written reply in a case pertaining to the protest sit-ins in Islamabad and possible extra-constitutional measures.

The PAT has raised the following questions:

  1. What is the legal position of a government formed through rigging?
  2. Is the government not violating court orders?
  3. Does any system of accountability exist in the political parties or state institutions?
  4. Should the institutions responsible for accountability not discharge their duties?
  5. Have the governments not failed to deliver education, justice and health facilities to masses over the past 41 years?
  6. Have the governments fulfilled thier promises made to people in the name of democracy?
  7. Does incumbent political system not lag behind over good governance?
  8. Aren’t state institutions being looted in the name of privatization?
  9. Isn’t the government violating court orders while appointing heads of key institutions?
  10. Aren’t the masses being oppressed by rulers in the country?
  11. Haven’t the governments failed protecting fundamental rights of people?
  12. Haven’t the governments violated court orders regarding local government elections?
  13. Is it not the duty of parliamentarians to making legislation rather than carrying out development projects, and do the legislators not do corruption in funds for uplift projects?

The court has adjourned the case till Wednesday. - Samaa
