Tribune News: PAT will accept nothing but 'Qisas' for Model Town incident, says Qadri

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Sunday dispelled rumors that his party was striking a deal with the government and would accept blood money for the PAT activists killed in Model Town incident, Express News reported.

Addressing the PAT rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday, he said ‘Qisas’ was the only way out to avenge the killings of his workers, and will accept nothing short of the punishment of killers.

The PAT chief while criticising the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government said even cleaning and parking projects in Punjab were being given to foreign companies.

“Can the Pakistani nation not even clean its cities or run buses?” he asked.

He claimed foreign companies were being given contracts for kickbacks.

While he repeated his earlier announced 10-point agenda for the poor, the PAT chief also disclosed plans to make Pakistan an economic power, and a country free of electricity load shedding.

Qadri said the only ‘ism’ Pakistan now wanted was Quaid-e-Azamism – ideals advocated by Jinnah to develop Pakistan.

The PAT chief vowed that once he comes into power, he would revive the country’s tourism sector, improve law and order in the country and make Pakistan a part of economic organisations such as BRICS, G-20, etc.

Solution to end load shedding

The PAT leader said the country currently had a demand of 15-20,000MW of electricity; however, it produced only 10-12,000MW.

He said the current leadership had no vision to end the power crises, and hence outlined his solution to produce electricity.

“I will produce electricity through 12 different methods,” he said.

These 12 methods, he said, include wind power, wind turbines, micro hydro projects, solar energy, thermal energy, solar lantern programme, and national bio mass cook stove project, among others.

Qadri said powers will be devolved to local district, division and UC levels, who will have the authority to install small power production projects, to end the menace of load shedding.

PAT membership

The PAT chief announced an SMS facility to become members of his party.

“Send your name and name of UC to 8002, and become a member of PAT,” he said.

He vowed to continue his struggle till revolution, saying he will field candidates from each and every district and village of Pakistan.
