ISLAMABAD: Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Dr Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday announced to end the Islamabad sit-in, adding that now this sit-in will be staged in every city for two days each, ARY News reported.
Addressing the participants of the PAT sit-in, Dr Tahirul Qadri said that neither we have stepped back from our stance, nor have we refused to hold negotiations.
He said that we kept asking for resignations of the prime minister and the Punjab CM, but the government was not ready to hold talks on this.
The PAT chief however turned down reports suggesting any deal with the government, saying that no compromise can ever be made on the blood of martyrs.
He said our demand was to appoint neutral officials in the joint investigation team (JIT), which was formed on the Model Town carnage.
Dr Tahirul Qadri said that his party will not accept Diya (compensation amount) against the killing of its workers and whenever it rose to power, his party will hold the culprits accountable.
During his address, he also condemned PEMRA’s decision of suspending ARY News and said that the government punished the media house for helping the voice of truth reach every nook and cranny of the country.
He said that the government will continue to subdue the voice of every channel, which will be providing awareness to the down-trodden masses of the country.
Qadri said his party fully condemns unlawful and one-sided decision of PEMRA and demands immediate restoration of ARY News. He added that Awami Tehreek fully supports freedom of press and media.
He said that the agenda for a revolution has not changed and we will continue to strive for reforming the system of the country.
At the end of his address with the participants, Tahirul Qadri asked them to peacefully disperse from the D-chowk in an organized manner.
He said this sit-in will now be staged in all the cities of the country, for a period of two days each and he will himself address hundreds of thousands of people over there.
