HARIPUR: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on Friday vowed that PAT would not allow midterm elections to be held under the current Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Talking to journalists here, Qadri dubbed the constitution of the existing ECP as unconstitutional, saying that elections held under the incumbent ECP would not be free, fair and transparent.
He underlined the need of reconstitution of the ECP, electoral reforms and strict accountability before holding elections.
Qadri, who recently wrapped up his 70-day long sit-in at Islamabad’s D-Chowk staged to oust the incumbent regime, said that the over two months long sit-in had awakened the nation.
He said that the day was not far when PAT demand would be met aromatically.
He maintained that PAT struggle to pull down thew anti-people exploitative system had entered the second phase. Qadri asserted that they had not ended their Islamabad sit-in rather they had extended it across the country.
