Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri visits Data Darbar

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Dr. Tahirul Qadri on Thursday paid a visit to Data Darbar, the shrine of sufi saint Abul Hassan Ali Hajvery, hours after his flight landed in Lahore from London, Samaa reported.

The PAT chief’s convoy took nearly five hours to reach Data Darbar from the airport where he was warmly welcomed by hundreds of his followers.

The PAT workers have pouring in from all across the city to welcome their leader, holding his portraits, party flags and banners, on the road from airport to the shrine in the heart of Lahore city.

Throughout the travel, Dr. Qadri’s motorcade was showered with rose petals by his supporters, a good number of women among them.

After visiting shrine of the Sufi saint and offering fatiha on the grave, Qadri will be heading to his Model Town residence.

According to a PAT spokesperson, Dr Qadri has returned to Pakistan after a successful trip to USA, Canada, and the UK. He had left for Canada on October 28 days after breaking his anti-government protest camp in Islamabad.

The PAT chief now demands a free and fair inquiry into Model Town incident which claimed lives of his 14 party workers following clashes with police at Lahore in June this year.

Qadri has rejected government-formed joint investigation team (JIT).

Demanding Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s resignation for his alleged role in the incident, Qadri is likely to resume his anti-government campaign. - Samaa
