Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri the first leader who raised voice against unconstitutional electoral system: Dr Raheeq Abbasi

PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi has said that PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is the only leader who demanded the re-composition of the Election Commission in accordance with the Constitution and elimination of rigging. He led a long march from Lahore to Islamabad for this purpose and drew the attention of the masses to unconstitutional electoral system of the country. He said that a clause was inserted under a conspiracy into the Ordinance issued to conduct a probe into allegations of rigging which said that only the political parties that contested 2013 elections will appear before the judicial commission and submit proof of rigging.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi expressed these views while chairing a high-level organizational meeting of the party. Those present on the occasion were Muhammad Hanif Mustafavi, Mian Sajid Pervez, Basharat Jaspal, Fayyaz Warraich, Mushtaq Nonari advocate, Mian Abul Qadir, Chaudhry Mazhar, Raja Zahid, Zahoor Ahmad Khosa, Sajid Bhatti and Ayesha Shabbir.

Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that PAT did not take part in the elections 2013 in view of possible rigging and illegal Election Commission, adding that issuance of the recent Ordinance ordering an investigation into allegations of rigging has proven us right. He said that PAT will inform the Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, the head of judicial commission, about unconstitutional Election Commission, flawed electoral laws and steps required for elimination of rigging. He said that if the election process is reformed and the Election Commission is empowered, the status quo parties will be consigned to dustbin of history.
