PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi and Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur have termed the release of 11 PAT workers belonging to Lahore as victory of truth. The police had arrested the workers from Shahdrah on staging protest against Model Town killings on June 17 and inserted terrorism charges including 7ATA in FIRs registered against them at the behest of Punjab government. The Police, however, failed to establish terrorism charges in anti-terrorism court and the case was referred to the court of Magistrate. Judicial Magistrate Farrukh Fareed Baloch termed the cases as illegally registered and ordered the release of the workers. Naeem-ud-Din Sheikh Advocate pleaded the case of workers on behalf of PAT.
In his statement, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the workers rendered great sacrifice for the cause of revolution, adding that we congratulate them on their release. He said that trial of more than 1200 workers on false cases registered by Police is underway across the country at the moment. He said that these cases are fake and politically motivated, adding that our workers will be released from jails, God willing. He said that the Punjab government has subjected the PAT leaders and workers to vindictive actions from June 17 to date and we are facing the devious tactics of the government with resolve and courage. He said that it is truth which will be ultimate victor. MQI Secretary General Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Basharat Aziz Jaspal and other leaders have also expressed their happiness on the release of the PAT workers and felicitated them on this.
