In his strong reaction to the Punjab Chief Minister’s statement in which he termed the Election Tribunal’s ruling regarding re-polling in NA-125 as opposed to justice, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that if the courts, tribunals and commissions do not pass favourable verdicts, the Sharif brothers do not accept them. He said that it was after an unfavourable decision was handed out that an attack on the Supreme Court was carried out.
The PAT Secretary General expressed these views while talking to a delegation of PAT Lawyers Wing that consisted of Mushtaq Nonari Advocate, Ishtiaq Chaudhry Advocate, and Naeem-ud-Din Advocate.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that on receipt of an unfavourable report of the judicial commission set up by him to probe Model Town tragedy, the Punjab Chief Minister showed his lack of trust in the commission and took refuge in a stay order in order to avoid publication of the report. He said that now the Sharif brothers want to take refuge in the stay order against the unfavourable decision in respect of NA-125. He said that the current Punjab CM used a stay order to stay in power for three years in his last term in office because when the petition was moved in the Supreme Court against his dual membership in 2010, he was able to get a stay order on the special favour of the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The writ petition was not fixed for hearing till completion of his tenure in office, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Nonari Advocate said that the matter relating to hiring the services of 200 printing experts from Urdu bazar two days ahead of General Elections 2013 is not only interesting but also intriguing at the same time. He said that gardeners of LDA played important role in the general elections. He said that interesting revelations will come to the fore as the investigation of the judicial commission moves forward. He said that PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s stance is based on truth that it is not merely the matter of a few constituencies; rather the Election Commission, which conducted the elections, should be held accountable.
