Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has given a final shape to the schedule of protest demonstrations under the theme of ‘give us justice or kill us too’ to be held in 60 cities till June 14. These demonstrations are being held to protest the JIT report and lack of justice in the Model Town case. In the first phase, the demonstrations will be held in Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat and Sahiwal in front of the press clubs today (May 24, 2015). On June 14, strong protests will be lodged in three provincial capitals namely Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar including Islamabad. The committees have been constituted at the district level that will contact and invite the civil society organizations, like-minded parties, and human rights organizations to take part in the demonstrations.
The final touch to the protest demonstrations was given in a meeting held here at the party’s central secretariat with PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi in the chair. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, Sajid Bhatti and Mian Zahid attended the meeting. The protests that got underway with a demonstration in front of the Punjab Assembly on May 22 will continue till June 14.
The next and crucial phase of protest movement after June 14 will be announced by PAT chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi will lead the demonstration in Lahore. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur will lead the protest in Faisalabad, whereas Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz will go to Sialkot to lead the demonstration there. Farhat Hussain Shah and Dr Tanvir Azam Sandhu will lead demonstrations in Gujrat and Sahiwal respectively. Hafiz Ghulam Farid, Mian Kashif Mahmood, Rashid Bajwa, Haji Akram and Qari Mazhar Farid have been appointed as heads of the administrative committees that will make arrangements for these demonstrations.
