PAT Secretary General has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan in which he has appealed to the honorable CJ to get an answer from the government on the report submitted by NEPRA in the Council of Common Interest. He said that the NEPRA revealed in its report that an amount of Rs. 65 billion was received from the people additionally by imposing secret surcharge in 2015. He appealed to the Chief Justice to take notice of this robbery, take action against those responsible and order the payment of the amount back to the consumers.

He said that the rulers claim on the one hand that they are giving subsidy of billions of rupees from the exchequer on electricity, whereas the NEPRA report suggests that the government has been fleecing the people through secret surcharge. He said that it is a matter of great surprise that none of the representatives of the federating units recorded his protest on this loot at the forum of Council of Common Interest.
The PAT Secretary General said that none of the elected members of Parliament and provincial assemblies also did not raise this issue nor moved any motion. At the same time, the opposition parties have also been silent on it. He said that the government is fleeing people and the opposition is unable to represent public aspirations. He said that the government has failed to reduce the load-shedding and set in motion the policies that could end the energy crisis.
