Ruthlessness has been given name of democracy: Dr Tahir ul Qadri

LAHORE: Ruthlessness has been given the name of democracy and the directions of the National Action Plan have been changed and target killing of political opponents continues.

This was stated by Dr. Tahir ul Qadri, chairman of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, while talking to different PAT leaders from Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab who called on him here on Friday.

Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said that a factious democratic system is being run in the country where severe violations of human rights are being committed and innocent are being killed and extra-judicial killing continue on a daily basis. He said Raja Nasir Abbas and other leaders of the Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen have been protesting peacefully for the last 53 days but the rulers have not moved an inch and are not ready to listen to the demands of the protesters.

He said in civilized societies the protesters are heard by the rulers and their demands are taken seriously, but in Pakistan the rulers are least concerned about the issues and problems of the people of the country. He said unless the citizen take the dead bodies and protest in front of Chief Minister, Governor House and in front of a parliament their demands are not taken seriously and their First Information Reports are not registered. He said in this way the weak are kept away from justice.

The PAT chairman said that there is no doubt in the minds of the masses that these rulers are supportive of terrorists and extremists and they have changed the very spirit of the NAP and political opponents are brutally dealt with force and barbaricism. He said the lands of the weak are being taken over by the strong and influential that are supported by the rulers and their hand-picked police force. He said this is the same thing that the Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen is protesting against on the roads. He said PAT supports this demand of the Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen. He said the lands of supporters of Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen  in Parachinar are being encroached upon by people who have the backing of the rulers, but the people in power refuse to act against the culprits. He asked from 2010 to 2016 why over 3400 Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen workers were killed? He said they are facing the worst kind of state-sponsored terrorism and nobody is ready to help or hear them. He said were gave a 70-day sit-in in Islamabad to seek justice for the martyrs of the Model Town tragedy and despite the registering of an FIA no action has been initiated against the culprits. He said we have faced state-sponsored brutalities and therefore we will raise our voice where ever such incident occurs. He demanded that the rightful demands of Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen must be accepted.
